Digital Surprise

It all started with a small conversation. I shared my email id with an old acquaintance who wished to send me some content to read before we could discuss the same.

He called back in some time to check if my id was NETKOT.

‘Yes’, I confirmed ‘it is Nagpur Elephant Tango Kolkatta Elephant Tango’
‘Sure’, he was seeking assurance
‘Yes. I created that many years back. It was my first ID I acquired. See I selected it as it was very simple. ‘Net’ from the Internet and ‘Kot’ from Kotnala’.
‘Ok, got it… but have you ever surfed and checked for Netkot’.

To be honest I have checked for my name and my blog as to what all it threw back on search. However, I had never checked the first part of the email ID.

‘Well it is really colorful. ( he chuckled), suggest you do so’.
And I did that, to my surprise some of the things that came up were really interesting… things that I had no clue about, and I am not associated with it.

There is a service called NETKOT which sounded more like a networking, and you know what kind.

It was fun to realize that my creatively coining NETKOT in the early ages of the Internet was no protection. Maybe we all who have created such email IDs could even for fun check out what all the net has.
