END OF STORY

By | 12/12/2013

The title and its stark black cover compelled me to buy this book.

So how do you start a story titled ‘END OF STORY’.

I was unprepared for the style of narration. The style of writing was new to me. So what was it all about? I do want you to PICK THIS BOOK AND READ and hence I am going to be a bit vague about the story line leaving enough juice for you to enjoy. It is a crime thriller- but thriller would be a wrong word to describe it.

END OF STORYThe narrations through chapters are really preparation by Shukrat Ali, a senior journalist in a sensational TV channel Khulasa. His boss Satya Saachi Sengupta has been murdered. He has been summoned by the court to testify. Is he the suspect?.

He pens down his intended narration as a witness. He puts it in a  very chronological way- justifying the importance of each episode that leads to the final act. At the very start every chapter- he raises one more question. A question he thinks the lawyers will ask and tries to justify his long narration. This narration is the story leading to the murder of his boss.

He has been part of an attempt of SUBLIMINAL ADVERTISING through the channel. He is married but his life is not a bed of roses. His wife and he are living through a tense relationship. He fears a lot, he blames a lot and yet he is a loving character.

READ ‘END OF STORY’ and be part of the turmoil. Be ready to be led in wrong direction like every other thriller does- and guess if you could point out the murderer. ( I definitely could not). Everyone seems a suspect and everyone seems to be innocent. Unfortunately the only weak point of the story is its somewhat twisted rationalisation and end.

I personally found the subject and the narrative to be real live. You could feel the frustration and you could feel the passion of the protagonist. The half hearted attempts and the feeling that Shakrut Ali is on to something not so nice ( Am I leading you). There is always there as an undercurrent of darkness in approach.

I LIKED IT BUT CAN NOT REALLY BE SURE IF YOU WOULD LIKE IT. TRY IT.
