TIGER ZINDA HAI – A PERFECT MASALA KHICHDI

By | 01/01/2018

This late review comes when the Salman Khan’s TIGER ZINDA HAI is in its 2nd week and already branded a super hit with more than 206 Cr net. So most of the loyalist have seen the movie and the fringe sitters are still debating should they risk their sensibilities with Bhai.

TIGER ZINDA HAI claims to be inspired by a real-life incident. That’s it. It stops there. It is an overdramatised reel life.

TIGER ZINDA HAI

Somewhere in North Syria, 25 Indian Nurses along with 15 Pakistani nurses are being held hostage by ISIS/ISIL terrorist leader Abu Usman (Sajjad Delafrooz) in a hospital he is also being treated. RAW the premiere Indian Intelligence and espionage agency has no better-trained agent than Tiger who is supposed to be dead.

Shenoy Sir ( Girish Karnad) knows and believes otherwise. He is short of time and must take his chances with over-the-hill Tiger ( Salaman Khan) and bring him back from retirement for the mission.

By the way, Bhabhi, his wife is the beautiful ISI agent Zoya ( Katrina Kaif) who then moves with the ISI agents to Ground Zero. ISI and RAW agent leaders (husband-wife) decide to launch first India- Pakistan joint covert operation to rescue the nurses.

Now TIGER ZINDA HAI shows how well the director-producer understands the DNA of a free-at-will secret agent film. They have borrowed the structure in terms of chase, love, care and confidence. The only area film falters is, duration, failing to build anxiety during the climax and too many unexplained illogical twists.

Salman Khan demonstrates his star-power and carries the film on his shoulders. It is a complete Bhai movie. Katrina Kaif does more than justice to her role and delivers quite nicely choreographed stunts. As such, there is no logic and there are too many loose ends in the film. Paresh Rawal was a pleasant surprise for us. He again demonstrates how talent can make even a small role so memorable.

Ali Abbas Zafar does a much better job with TOGER ZINDA HAI than Kabir Khan did with EEK THA TIGER. It is not a right comparison as there is a lot more in the story and the subject leads to a better cinematographic moulding.

If you can leave the sleekness and tight plots of James Bond and the rawness of Rambo outside the hall, you can shamelessly enjoy this Bollywood show.

The film leaves nothing to the imagination. You bet, there will be a third instalment of the franchise.
