SHUDH DESI ROMANCE

GOOD ENOUGH FOR ONE SHOW

Many of our films are interpretations of some movie from a different country, language and culture. It has never bothered me and is not something that in anyway affects my liking or disliking the movie. I am told that ‘Shudh Desi Romance’ is in many ways our ‘Runaway Bride’. Must say I was looking forward to this particular movie- having met the star cast a few days before. It is a simple story that excites you for the first part of the movie.

SUDH DESI ROMAMNCE II COURSTY GLOBAL CINEMAPART I– Raghuram Sitaram (Sushant Singh Rajput) is a tour guide. While on way to his own shadhi to Tara ( Vaani Kapoor). He meets bubbly no nonsense Gayatri ( Parineeti Chopra) and loses no time in kissing her. Doubtful if his intending marriage is worth it or if he has taken the right call he runs away.

PART-II. Naturally he meets Gayatri again. They talk, sleep and soon fall in love. This time it is Gayatri’s turn to run away from the shadhi ka mandap.

PART-III. Raghuram meets Tara. The same girl he has left at Mandap. And love again blossoms.

PART IV– Raghuram and Tara are getting ready to get married when Tara drops in, Raghu again has doubts if he should be marrying Vaani or Gayatri. And the question surfaces again- Is he doing the right thing.

PART V- he finally decides and all is set for him to marry the chosen girl.

But this time who will run. Go watch this confusingly looped movie.

SUDH DESI ROMANCE Sushant Singh Rajput may end up being a few movie wonder. He must get ready for audience rejection. His perpetually perplexed, no emotion face will not help him ride to success. He is the same Sushant of ‘Kai Po Che’ and acts with no change in mannerism – no improvisation. Parineeti as Gayatri seems to be the only one who could have carried her role. Here is someone who is taking her job seriously and making it work. Vaani Kapoor is the find and surprise in the movie. She plays her part well and almost steals the show from Parineeti. And not to forget the highly talented Rishi Kapoor as Goyal saab he is able to add the missing charm in the story.

There is enough of chemistry and biology seems to threaten taking over. Unfortunately the verbal chemistry does not add fire to 27 kisses. They are mild and stale – adding no zing for the viewers. Unfortunately as an audience you are able to predict everything but the climax which is so – so. . And the film seems to drag toward the end. Still I enjoyed the movie- and would suggest it is good for a one-time-show.
