An underwear seller who can hit sixes at will in his mohalla cricket to underworld henchmen who has natural talent for Golf, so good that without much he is hitting for the championship board. And then the ultimate, Lagan equivalent stroke. No prize for guessing it right. A hole in one, that too, through a tree hazard with his badly sprained paining arm, in the final hole, where for the last three days, he was failing. What do they smoke while writing such movies?

I am not sure. What should I be recommending? Go watch FREAKY ALI, so that sports movies could be encouraged. Or ask you not to see- so that no one dares to make such pathetic half-baked sports film.

It’s Nawazuddin Siddiqui (ALI) who masters the script, to some extent, but even he has nothing much to do, other than just give well written retorts and mouth dialogues that give some life to the film. His opening Chaddi ( underwear ) salesman act, that he has done through the film promotions, has a capability to become a minor hit. An absolute entertaining iconic delivery. But then Govinda has done such acts far better in many films.

screen-shot-2016-09-15-at-8-50-33-pmLet us not waste time talking about wooden faced ARBAAZ KHAN, Ali’s mother SEEMA BISWAS in an ill-fitting role, AMY JACKSON has nothing to do, not even skin show and all other wasted characters.

The first half holds a bit and then completely disintegrates in the second half. I am not sure how many understands the game. How they are supposed to enjoy. Nevertheless, the director does succeed in one thing. He ensures even the uninitiated will hole, is about a hole, a ball and the Winner pot it in fewer strokes.

There are many liberties taken by the director under the umbrella permit of cinematic licenses. Director uses it to demonstrate, how FREAKY is the film. All this makes film lose whatever character it has.
