JFK- always fascinated me. Lot of controversies- lot of conspiracy theories and few films on the subject was all that I had as the reference on the subject. It was early November when I ordered this from FLIPKART wanting to time it with 22 November – the day JFK was killed some 50 years back- 36 days before I was born.
I finally did complete it on 24th November – a day before he was buried 50 years back in 1963.
The book KILLING KENNEDY by BILL O’REILLY and MARTIN DUGARD- people who wrote the famed ‘KILLING LINCOLN’ is safe to be called INTERESTING. I am impressed with the book and will read the one on Lincoln.
The book builds up from the JFK becoming the president to the date he was shot dead. The build up is fine- but it only builds a case for LEE HARVEY OSWALD as the lone assassin.
Yet there are so many moments and incidents that make the first couple so Human. The story of PT-109 and making of JFK. The politics and power play depicted is so real. I fear that for many Americans the book may not have much to offer but for me was lot of new information. More interesting is that Power play between Bobby Kennedy and J Edgar Hoover, the interaction with Martin Luther King. More so the pain of Vice-President Lyndon Johnson. But the book mentions and yet skirts away from womanising ways of JFK.
I enjoyed reading the book.
