We went to watch this movie- for a simple reason- we like Shahid and this was his movie after a long long time. The promo’s on air were promising and they remained the best part of the movie. Though Shahid charm works most of the time- the movie in itself has nothing to add.

The Indian filmi MAA, after being betrayed by the corrupt policeman as husband- wants the kid to grow up to become an honest policeman. The son has other Ideas- he wants to be an actor. But like any other Indian son- finds it tough to tell his mom. Now he lands in Mumbai and is in rented Police Uniform- what will happen next- is not much of a surprise. We all know- he will have misunderstanding with his mother and later on all will be well, He will finally be a policeman- Ma ki dua kab kaam ayegi. Some damsel in distress will take him to be real cop and after few reels will fall for him- some more footage later she will realize the truth and misunderstanding will develop. At the nth hour even she will be fine. The corrupt policeman who has been considered dead early in the movie- will re-emerge and reinvent himself as a dreaded don and will have a faceoff with the fake police kid. ENOUGH OF NO BRAINER from RAJKUMAR SAMTOSHI. Seriously the movie fails to even keep you interested in the story. Like many other film it has first half entertaining enough but falls flat in second half- and is some 45 minutes too long.
It seems that the team was not sure what they wanted to make. The last dialogue by Shahdi ‘Maine Ma-bete ka emotion kar liya, pyarkar liya, duet ga liya, item song ho gaya, villan to pita, baap sey lada…’ something like that- ‘aur aab samjha- real hero is better than reel hero’ says all. They start attempting a Govinda Comedy- then Ajaydevgun fight- then Salman body- then shahdi steps- Gushan Villan- Amitabh Comedy- and shetty cars- item song- action thriller- emotional ma ka pyar– too many recipes at the same time- bound to have messed up the aftertaste.
Savitri’s (Padmini Kolhapure) as Shahid’s mother does well enough to keep her image as a solid actress intact. Though her makeup seems to be differing throughout the movie- seems different hands in work- to give her differentiating looks.
Ms Ileana as COMPLAINT KAJAL is like a dead prop. She seems clueless on what was expected out of her, And as a pair Shahid and her are dead cold.
Meanwhile in all this the side character Sanjay Mishra (Guruji) and Saurabh Shukla ( side don) keep the audience interested. Well I have never been a music man- and this time the song ‘Mai sarbato ka rang .. tu meetey ghat ka paani’ sounded so promising on Radio- has been massacred in visualization with utterly useless choreography. Nargis Fakhri’s item song is inane and not required at all. Though the song ‘Agal Bagal’ has few steps by Shahid which are interesting and will ctach on. Hopefully that will lead to some popularity.
