Seven Interludes. Seven Stories by G Podington, the author I would know by another name. but that is not important. It is the quirky genius of scenarios that Podington creates with his stories that invariably have a different tale to tell, with a simple but somewhat hard twist at the end. There is a definitive style that is far more contemporary. The visualisation aided through the way he describes the scene. And the sting comes when he lulls you through the story developing at its own pace.
Each of the stories presents a completely contrasting situation, yes, there is co, fear, doubts and greed as the foundation of most of them, but the end results totally different. Somewhere, there is an element of an anti-hero.
WHAT TO EXPECT
So, you have a story where a letter is discovered purportedly written by a man in 1958 when the man was supposed to have died in 1946. Or the young semi-literate trying to read into the future while on trance. Find out how a master chef unravels a secret recipe and what makes him do that. Meet a couple of friends travelling by train who decide to play a practical joke on their fellow passengers. And if that does not tickle your taste, meet the Chess playing smuggler who had schemes to evade taxes. Oh, the story I liked the most is about two men who decide to rob the city’s biggest underworld Don and how they plan and execute their plan. And do they succeed and have their way. Or what really happens to them- well, you will have to pick the book and read it.
