‘The One Thing’ is a simple management Motivational success secret kind of book that goes with the subscript ‘The surprising simple truth behind extraordinary results’
Gary keller throughout the book focuses on a simple truth- if you are clear about ‘what is that one thing that will make other things doable – easy or unnecessary’ then focusing on that is what you really be doing. Keep that in mind and devote at least 4 hours a day to it will reward you a lot better than trying to do many things at the same time. It is all about prioritizing to the level of filtering to THAT ONE SINGLE PURPOSE that should be defining your life. If you try working hard at it, it will become your Habit and then a natural part of it. It is quite a decent book- and the initial part makes you really evaluate your own life.
Unfortunately towards the end of the book- this really hard sell of THAT ONE THING becomes too repetitive in nature. It questions a few statements and then use them to develop its argument. It says that statements like ‘Everything matters equally’ that leads us to try doing to many things and in process ‘Multitasking’, ‘A disciplined life, ‘Willpower is always on will-call’, ‘A balanced life’ and that ‘Big is bad’ are the lies that hold us back in our approach to gain in life. I personally liked ‘A BALANCED LIFE’ chapter where it proposes that an oscillating long gaps when you clearly focus on Professional or Personal life is far better than continuously trying to balance both- and in process achieving nothing. Do pick and read it- but not a book that I would recommend you to go out searching for.
