My Journey with ‘UnCAGE The Books’
Since 2016, I have uncaged more than 450 books.
Every year, I clean my shelves and choose the ones I won’t return to.
At first, letting go was difficult. But soon, it became liberating.
Today, it feels like a cleansing ritual.
- It frees space.
- It sharpens my taste. It reiterates what I like reading.
- It makes me thoughtful about the new books I bring in.
And most importantly, it keeps the books alive- UnCAGED.
Not Every Book Should Be Uncaged!
Some books you will always return to.
A few will be part of your professional reference.
Some hold too much emotional value.
Keep those.
But don’t let the rest lie in silence.
UnCAGE them.
‘UnCAGE The BOOKS’ is Beyond Gifting
Uncaging is not the same as gifting.
- Gifting is personal. You choose a book for someone. And you even choose who you would gift.
- Uncaging is about circulation. You let books find readers beyond your circle. Its inclusive and secular in vevery possible way. It is giving the book to the person who claims to want to read it.
Both have their place. But uncaging keeps knowledge flowing. UnCAGED is UnRESTRICTED.

In 2025, UnCAGE the Books enters its 10th year.
What began as a ‘whisper’Lets see what happens’ is now a ritual.
Many people who have benefited from my books keep reminding me of the advantage they had. A few have joinned and they do their own ‘UnCAGE the Books’. What count’s i s the thought and action- not necessaril the process.
The message is simple and stronger than ever:
Knowledge must circulate. Stories must travel. Books must live.
