RAM NAVAMI will be celebrated on 21st April 2021. It is said that Lord Rama was about 42 years of age when he killed the mighty king Ravana. Lord Rama then ruled for 11,000 years. It is said that in the Treta yuga long life was a reality. There are mentions of rishi munies doing sadhana – tap for thousands of years. Or maybe the name Rama was followed to signify the dynasty, so the Rama dynasty ruled for 11,000 years.
It is believed that Lord Rama, the 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu, was born on this day, the ninth day of the Shukla paksha of Chaitra month. Based on the planetary positions, astrologers consider 10th January at 12.05 hours, 5114 BC towards the end of Treta Yuga, as the birth time of Lord Rama towards the end of the second yuga.

People keep a vegetarian diet. During the nine days of Ram Navami- the nine days in the Shukla paksha of the Chaitra month. That is the first nine days of the Chaitra- when the noon is growing.
THE STORY OF BIRTH OF LORD RAMA.
Legend has it that King Dashratha of the Raghuvanshi-Ikshvaku-Suryavanshi dynasty, the king of Ayodhya ruled Koshada, an area in the upper northern part of India with its capital Ayodhya on the banks of river Sarayu. Princess Shanta was the firstborn of King Dashrath and Queen Kausalya. Dashrath married again ( Kaikayi and Sumitra) with a desire to have a son. But, for many years, nothing happened.
Rishi Vasistha suggested that the king perform a yagna for an heir. The great god Vishnu answered the gods’ call and appeared in a sacrificial fire made by Dasaratha. Lord Vishnu promised to take birth from the womb of King Dashratha’s wife. In some places, Lord Vishnu took the human form of Lord Rama ( the seventh avatar ) at the behest of the gods to finish the regime of demon king Ravana.
Lord Vishnu presented Kind Dashrath with a pot of nectar and asked him to give it to his queen. Dashrath gave half of it to his head queen Kausalya.. one-sixth to his youngest wife, Kaikeye and the rest to the middle wife, Sumitra. As Kausalya had only half the pot of nectar, she gave birth to half-divine Rama- half Vishnu. Sumitra gave birth to Lakshman and Shatrugan- both 1/6th of Vishnu and Kaikayi gave birth to Bharat.; 1/6th of Vishnu)
BEST PLACES FOR RAM NAVAMI CELEBRATION.
Though Ram Navami is celebrated across India, there are five places where one could see the best of celebration in its glory. Covid-19 restrictions will ensure that the festivities this year (2021) remain lowkey.
Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, is logically the first choice for watching celebrations. Ayodhya is the place of birth of Lord Ram. The whole area is lit with diyas, and a chariot procession is hosted to celebrate Ram Navami. Rameshwar Ram temple in Tamil Nadu. It is here that Ram Sethu was construction started to reach Sri Lanka in the mission to free Sita and kill Ravana. Badrachalam, Ram Temple on the banks of river Godavari in Telangana. Sitamarhi, Bihar; the birthplace of Goddess Sita. Janaki Mandir is the centre of Ram Navami celebrations. Kodandrama Ram Temple at Vontimitra, Andhra Pradesh.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO NAVAMI’S IN A YEAR.
The October Navratri is the period of celebration of shakti. The period of Lord Rama’s battles with Ravana and the 10th-day slaying of Ravana is celebrated as Dussehra. Chaitra Rama Navami is the celebration of Lord Vishnu’s birth as the 7th avatar of Lord Rama.
ASHTAMI AND NAVAMI- NOT SO ASUPICIOUS.
Though Rama was born on the Navami, Asthami and Navami- the 8th and the 9th thithi (day) after the Amavasya(no moon night) and Poornima (full moon night) in the waxing or waning phase of the moon and hence not considered really auspicious for starting anything important.
