41st EPISODE some years ago, one of the larger regional newspapers went to PATTAYA for their annual incentive tour. The combined National sales team, marketing and other vertical heads like HR., Editorial, Circulation & production joined as observers.
It is not rocket science, that when a predominately male dominated group lands at Pattaya, a visit to Walking Street is part of planned schedule. The trick not to be noticed by others. For that one needs to be an early bird or really a late one. There is another way, to avoid the ground floor joints and move to the first floor joints, which the average sales team person rarely indulges in.
In one such joint, the senior team had converged. It had the Marketing Director (Director), The Marketing Vice President (MVP) and Regional sales heads (TSH). Among them was also the new HR. HEAD (HRH). He came from a large FMCG MNC and was in the process of being acclimatised to the culture and environment within the company He was confused with the polarised behaviour of senior team at different time. He was playing it safe. No glass in hand and eyes locked at the painted toenails of the dancing girl. Unsure, if the management will keep blind to this visit to an European bar at Pattaya where women with skimpy cloths were seductively dancing or will they frown upon it.
The Director who was very open-minded saw through his problem. He signalled to the VP, who was busy drinking with two busty babes on his side. It was just a nod and the message was delivered across the room. It took no time to realise that the HRR though acting like a saint was busy stealing glances. His point of focus was a real busty Russian. VP called her and giving her more than due instructed her to take care of his shy HRR. The babe was true professional. She asked just engage or more. The answer was few more dollars in her bikini. She was now incentivised’ She knew its was better to over deliver with the rowdy Indian crowd shamelessly throwing money.
Need not to add that the sheepish HRR still trying to avoid eye contact in that dimly lit rom went with her to one of the available open cubicle. He got more than just an engaging lap dance but a lot more. Secretly more dollars was pumped in her hand holding the cubicle separator
When he finally emerged from her clutches, he was in shock, not knowing how to react. The HRR indulgence gave every one new ideas and a higher level of freedom. Next time we saw HRR was at the lunch. It is rumoured that with newfound energies he went to another house of repute and never returned to his room that night. Some say, he just went back to room and it took him time to recover from the assault. Unfortunately, I cannot verify the statement.
