How to MIND MAP by Tony Buzan- Book review

By | 05/11/2020

You don’t expect me to be reading this book now. You are correct. I should not have read it now. So, Don’t buy or read ‘HOW TO MIND MAP’ by Tony Buzan. Definitely, if you have experimented with MIND MAPPING or LADDERING before.

Tony patented/registered/trademarked or whatever the word MIND MAP- for a visual aided summarisation of thoughts idea and then built an empire around it.

Nothing wrong in it. And if you have not been introduced to Mind Map before, then this book is a decent investment. Instead, you could ask some senior to explain and demonstrate the thing to you. If his other book MASTERING THE MINDMAP draws similar response, will have to wait till I read it.

Anecdotally, the idea of Mind Map was born with Tony Buzan observing that students with doodled colourful visual notes were getting better marks.

Tony, adapted it to trapping essential macro elements of an idea, promise, thought into a multi-branch tree. Here the representation grows as you start inter-relating things into categories and going deeper. This was not new, in TONY Buzan words, terms, Leonardo Da Vinci’s notebooks, or Einstein notes were the same.

Mind Map is a visual way of capturing ideas, concepts. It is about breaking down information into an easy to understand and remember format. Additionally, in it, the visual and written representations merge to create what is natural, relevant and comfortable for the mind to map or understand.
