Vedic Astrology creates a Vedic horoscope by the position of plants at the time of the birth of a person believing that their position and movement have a predictable impact on the human body, surrounding, life events and behaviour. A birth horoscope (Kundali or Janam Kundli ) is used by astrologers to read information about the present and to predict future events. The nine planets are Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Brishpati or Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn) and the two shadow planets – Rahu (north node of the moon), and Ketu (south node of the moon).
Additionally, it considers the 12 zodiac signs these planets transcend. The signs are Mesh Symbol Ram (Aries), Rishabh symbol Bull (Taurus), Mithun symbol Twins (Gemini), Kark symbol Crab (Cancer), Sinh symbol Lion (Leo), Tula symbol balance/scales (Libra), Kanya symbol Virgin (Virgo), Vrshchik symbol Biccho (Scorpio), Dhanu symbol Archer (Sagittarius), Makar symbol Goat (Capricorn), Khumbh symbol Pitcher (Aquarius) and Meen Symbol two fishes (Pisces).
And it considers the five elements in nature. Bhumi (Earth), Jal (water), Agni (Fire), Vaayu (Air) and Aakash (Sky).
The 12 Houses in Horoscope.
Horoscope is derived from the Greek words ōra and scopos, meaning “time” and “observer”. It is believed that a horoscope can be used as a method of predicting events in the life of a person.
Like the 12 Zodiac signs, the horoscope has 12 houses. Each of the houses represents a particular part of the person’s life.
Simplifying Simple Horoscope.
Every Horoscope has four primary angles which influence key areas and moments in the person’s lifetime. These in their degree of influence are as follows. One could consider the sky as a clock and then see Ascendant at 9 O’clock, Midheaven at 12 Clock, Descendant at 3 O’clock and South angle at 6 O’clock when the sky is crossed east-west and north-south.
- The 1st House (Ascendant, the astrological sign that is present on the eastern horizon when the person is born. East Angle, rising sign, or ASC/AC)
- The 10th House (Midheaven, the astrological sign that is present on the 12 O’clock position of the day, the straight up in sky also called Medi Coeli (midheaven), North Angle, MC, can also be considered where the sun would have been if the birth was midday)
- The 7th House (Descendant, the astrological sign present at the western horizon when the person is born. Also called West Angle, setting sign, DSC/DC)
- The 4th House (South Angle, the astrological sign that would be present right opposite of the 10th house sign, also called lower-heaven, IC)
1st House- Ascendant House or Lagna or House of Self.
The 1st house represents the person and the physical personality, including appearance, temperament, nature, body frame, childhood, health, ego and sense of self. It affects/reflects life choices, a sense of knowing strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes and the way one wants others to see them—the external projection.
It depicts and gives a clue about the head and the face, including complexion, forehead, hair, brain, etc. A weak 1st house will point towards the possibility of facial problems like headaches, acne, scars, etc.

2nd House- House of Possessions.
Reflect Dhana/Income including finances, possessions like car, furniture, investments etc. and non-material things too. It rules face organs. For Example, if a feminine planet like Venus sits in the 2nd house of the Birth Chart, the person’s voice will be very appealing and melodious.

Defines the ability to memorize. It rules the land, real estate matters, vehicles, relation with the mother and the level of domestic happiness.
