Say KHUDA HAFIZ to KHUDA HAFIZ- MOVIE REVIEW

By | 19/08/2020

Khuda Haafiz means ‘May God be your Guardian’. And the movie is rightly titled. The concept inspired by a real-life incident has been royally butchered in the name of creative license. Khuda Hafiz.

2008 newlywed couple Sameer Choudhary (Vidyut Jammwal) and Nargis (Shivaleeka Oberoi) face unemployment due to global economic slowdown. They get jobs in Sultanate of Noman. Nargis has to go first. No one knows it is a trap. She is lost from the airport, and all Sameer has is a phone call with Nargis asking to be brought back to India. Sameer decides to work on his own and get his wife back. The whole movie is about his passionate attempt to get her back. What happened? Did he succeed?

So you enjoy the first part of the movie. The couple getting married, lose the job in the economic slowdown. Abrakadabra in no tie they have an answer to their prayers. They are offered jobs in Sultanate of Noman. You are even curious and anxious to know- where is Nargis and if Sameer will be able to get her. But once Sameer lands in Sultanate of Noman, the director suddenly realises he had signed an action hero and the movie tries becoming a thriller- chase. The engagement sharply dives south, and in no time you start wondering at what is happening—so much of a transformation. The coy Sameer who landed with just a bag in Sultanate of Noman is now fighting Police-Mafia human traffickers and can do everything like 007.

Shiv Panditt as Abu Malik and Aahana Kumra as detective Tamena Hamid of Internal Security Agency of Sultanate of Noman are cardboard pieces adding nothing to the movie with their f=presence. They are not convincing enough and somehow lack presence on screen. In fact Annu Kapoor as the helping taxi driver Usman Ali Murad) holds the movie together.

Say Khuda Hafiz to Khuda Hafiz and don’t waste your time watching something that carries ‘COULD DO BETTER’ in the report card. And if you have not watched Pareeksha or Bandish Bandits-please do.
