TIGER-3, Movie review

By | 18/11/2023

The movie’ TIGER-3, It is Personal this Time’ is a decent production with a good engagement value. Avinash Singh Rathore, our super Spy Salman Khan and Zoya- super ISI ex-agent Katrina Kaif do well as a pair, this time saving the democratic structure in Pakistan. While doing that, Salman Jumps like Pathan (Shahrukh Khan) in an earlier film, and Shahrukh Khan helps Salman escape as Salman did in the earlier film. It is good to see that in a male-centric movie, the female Spy has quite a substantial role, and her stunts are as wild and grand as Salman Khan’s.

Now, the Indian cinemagoers have four universes to look forward to. The Spy Universe- Shahrukh and Salman, The War universe- Hritik Roshan and the police universe- Devgan, Salman and Ranveer Singh. Also, there is a fourth cultivated and yet to be firmly branded Social-good doer-biopic universe of Akshay Kumar.

NO QUESTIONS PLEASE.

Oh, please don’t again ask if all those chases, fights, and stunts are humanly possible. They are not. This is a large-screen cinema, and such effects are par for the round.

No, the climax is not in question. You know, Salman Khan will survive and finish the mission. And that is true for any such film globally. Now, how it is done is the question. But in Tiger-3, it is well captured.

The Spy, even if he double-crosses the Government or remains out of reach, will be patriotic, and that is given. He will be so good that he can banter and keep things away from the chief handler- the RAW chief, Maithili Menon (Revathy). Take that with a pinch of salt or whatever else you want. But just don’t question.

Don’t question, when none of us know the start, middle or end of Pakistan National Anthem, how those cute little Pakistani girls who have come to sing a Patriotic Pakistani song before the PM address- could play JAN MAN GAN- towards the end of Tiger-3 mission. No one questions and the audience stands up in a patriotic gesture. The film gets a bonus.

The Villain in Tiger-3, former ISI agent Aatish Rehman Emraan Hashmi, is more real than anyone else. He has his own objectives and aspirations that are made loud and clear. There is conviction and passion, and he is a square ahead on the chess board for most of the film until he makes the final move. And, it is different that the Super Spy would don the traditional way of 80’s in fist fighting the Villian instead of shooting him.

A SHARER EDIT COULD HAVE HELPED TIGER-3.

The film is long and could have been done with a sharper edit and less long-drawn stunt scene. One of them was the escape from the high-security prison. I would have liked it more, and perhaps the real Salman Khan fans like this cut. There are so many stunts that soon you stop seeing a story. The one stunt frame morphs and merges into the next, leaving little scope for any acting- not that the super Spy is known for it- but for whatever opportunity available, Katrina does try to make a mark and succeed in a few ways.

There are a few other performances if you can call them so. Rakesh Chaurasia (Kumud Mishra) and Anand Rao (Anant Vidhaat) are as good as the space allows them. The spy-couple’s son, Junior (Sartaaj Kakkar), is okay for the role, and maybe this son will soon be another spy to watch out for. Riddhi Dogra, as a Pakistani agent, Shaheen does have much to deliver.

NET NET

Oh, if you were planning to watch the movie and for some reason missed out, don’t worry; you would not have missed out on anything substantial in terms of Indian cinema or entertainment. It is a Time Pass, just like the mission TIGER is sent in the initial part of the movie. However, waiting for TIGER-3 to stream on some OTT platform would be better.
